Digi News & One Buck Wednesday!

Wednesday is here and that means it's time to let you know what's new in our digital store and what we have up for $1 for One Buck Wednesday!

First, we have two new (well, retired items from last years printed summer line) digitals that coordinate with our Sweet Summer papers and journaling tags! They are:

Moving update!

Good morning and happy Monday, everyone! I am so excited to let you know that the moving is going very smoothly and fast - I feel so blessed!! We've had tons of help from family (and even my nephew shown above!) and I'm forever grateful for their help! We are almost unpacked and ready to open the shop back up and start shipping!

Sketch Thursday : 8.25.11

It's Sketch Thursday and this week's sketch is based off of Design Team member Allison Waken's super cute and fun layout she did for our August Inspiration Gallery!

I love how this layout and sketch has room for lots of layering, and that the paper pieces are small enough that you can use some of the scraps of your favorite papers you might have been saving (if you're like me and save every last piece!!). I also love how everything is centered and that Allison also took time to add the date in the left corner - dates on layouts are so important to me!

So now it's your turn! You can flip it, move the title, change up the photo size... maybe two 4 x 6's? It's totally up to you!

August Guest Designer : Keisha Campbell

As our August gallery went live yesterday, you got to see the amazing and beautiful creations of our seven design team members, along with the creations from our guest designer this month, Keisha Campbell!

We are so excited to have Keisha on board with us this month - we feel so blessed to be inspired by her and have her working with our tags! I've been a huge fan of her work for a long time now, so this is really a dream come true!

August's Inspiration Gallery is LIVE!

The August Inspiration Gallery is LIVE and I can't even express how amazing this gallery is! Hand stitching, layering, clever cut outs, and even a full "Week in the Life" project! It's beyond words and so incredible - it will have you running to your scrap room full of ideas!

Huge thank you to our design team, and our special guest this month! We'll be featuring her tomorrow, but if you hop over to the gallery today, you'll get a sneak peek at who it is! We feel so honored to have her on board with us this month!

It’s Moving Day!

The move has begun – as this post goes live we are already putting things away in boxes and packing up as fast as possible! My family will be coming over to help move the boxes to our new spot on Wednesday, and then we will be unpacking them as fast as possible. Crossing my fingers it all goes as smoothly has I’m hoping!

This means our moving sale has begun! Any order placed in the shop today – August 30th, will not be shipping out until August 31st, however, since we are making you wait extra-long for your order, we are giving you 20% off! Just a reminder!

This is just a reminder that we will be temporarily closing our shop during our big move: All orders place during August 22nd - August 30th will not ship out until August 31st, when we open back up. Sketch Thursday : 8.18.11

This week's sketch is based on this layout from the July Inspiration Gallery from ES design team member Waleska.  That single horizontal band containing her photos, journaling and embellishments?  Love the composition!

This sketch has room for three photos, but as I told my sister-in-law last week when we were scrapbooking together, think of a sketch as a starting point.  Whatever inspires you to create, go for it!  Rotate the sketch, flip it - it's YOUR layout!

By now, you know that I normally scrapbook with typical size photos, usually 4x6 and 5x7.  For this layout, I used three 4x6 photos and simply cropped two of them smaller to eliminate extra background and keep the focus on my daughter blowing out her birthday candles.  Instead of a journaling block between two of my photos, I created a strip for my title which I then turned into a candle to coordinate with the subject of my layout.  Inspired by Waleska's banners along the top of her layout, I included three of my own and then also trimmed the edge of my tape and journaling block to match.

I've always loved Waleska's style and love that this sketch had me thinking a bit outside of my box.

Elle's Studio product used : 2011 Monthly Pennants, Lil' Snippets: Labeled - Yellow & Orange,  Handmade Layers Pennants - Birthday and Handmade Layers Large Journaling Tags. 

Other product used : Studio Calico's Boardwalk kit.

Our July Guest Designer, Jen Gallacher, took at turn with this week's sketch.  I love that she used the sketch to create a layout that maintains her usual design style. 

Jen says, "I pretty followed the sketch in its entirety as I love 8 1/2 X 11" layouts and the sketch was right up my alley. I did had a half circle sub title at the bottom of my page and added my title letters to the hanging banners. But I really enjoyed this sketch and will definitely use it again as inspiration for an entirely new layout next time."

Elle's Studio product used : Handmade Layers Large Circle Journaling Tags, Handmade Layers Pennants - Blank, Handmade Layers Pennants - Inspiring and Make A List Journaling Tags.

I really like this monochromatic take on the sketch from design team member Allison Waken and how she spread her title work over a large area within her design. 

Allison notes, "I loved the overall feel of this sketch and wanted to keep it pretty similar. I started off with my photos (Fujifilm Instax prints) and went from there. I decided to move the pennants to the other side of the layout to balance out the other embellishments I had added."

Although similar to Waleska's original layout in that it features ink splatters on a white backdrop, this layout from design team member Marcy Penner.  I love how Marcy moved the location of her pennants and strung them together with thread.
Marcy comments, "Right away I was inspired by the banner in the sketch.  My intention was to place it exactly as it was in the sketch... but as is often the case... this changed as my layout when along."

This layout marks a new record for me - SIX different ES products on a single layout.  I've said it before and I'll say it again, these tags make putting together a layout so easy!  The perfect finishing touch!

For today's Take Out Tuesday, I used three photos to tell my story : one 5x7 and two 4x4s.   The ES tags I used helped to create my title, homes for my journaling and date and two embellishments.

Savoring Summer Feature

Today, we are excited to share with you a gorgeous Savoring Summer Album (from our very first project kit) created by Gracie Swainson.

Elle and I both instantly fell in love with her whimsical style, attention to detail, and does she not have the most beautiful handwriting ever? I especially love how she created this album to document her favorite memories over many different summers. Such a great idea!
