A beautiful day

Yesterday was such a beautiful day spent with family and full of celebration and memories. I am so bummed I forgot my camera in the chaos of getting ready to leave to head to my grandmas, but was promised photos from those who did remember theirs :) Definitely some scrapbooking moments in there!

We ate a yummy dinner and then spent time around the table catching up. Moments like these are kind of rare now since we are all adults now with busy lives and some of us live out of town, so moments like these are meant to be treasured. No egg hunt this year, but by next year my nephew will be walking around so we decided to wait until then... and I cannot wait to watch and document those moments!

Love days like yesterday!

P.S. I have to tell you about these coconut bars I made for my grandma - they were beyond delicious! This recipe is amazing and I am so thankful it ended up in my inbox! My grandma has celiac so I replaced the Nilla's with a gluten-free graham cracker crust and she loved it!

Tutorial: Using journaling tags to enhance your page titles with Gail Lindner!

Hi everyone! Today I want to share my favorite thing to do with journaling spots . . . that is apart from journal on them! I love creating mix & match titles for my layouts and I also love adding interest and dimension to my titles with journaling spots! You’ll also get some insight as to how I go about creating a layout.

The first thing I do is gather patterned paper, cardstock, letters etc to match my photos. I then go through my stash of journaling tags and pull some out that match also. I’m lucky I have a large range to choose from and quite often I grab tags from different ranges that have a similar color scheme.

I then complete my basic layout. I tend to do lots of layering and then each layer is inked, distressed or stitched or sometimes all three!

Now it’s time to give the same treatment to the journaling spots I’ll be using. I cut coordinating mats out of cardstock – some straight and some with small scallop scissors. I just eyeball it when cutting the mats. I always lightly distress the edges and/or ink them and it hides any imperfections!

I then arrange the journaling tags on my layout where I want my title to go. I mount one or two on pop dots to add dimension. You do need to know what your title will be – I ended up trimming the longer purple tag to fit the space better. I always try to use different fonts and textures of letters when doing a title. I also added a chipboard swirl under the ‘3’ to draw attention to it!

To really make a feature of my title, I then go ahead and embellish! Some of my favorite ways are to use swirls (either stamped or rhinestone/pearl), ribbon, flowers, butterflies or buttons to make it a real feature on your page!

Here’s a look at the whole layout after I added all the finishing touches:

I love how my eye is immediately drawn to the title, then up to the photos!

Isn't this layout by Sophie absolutely adorable?! I love how she added the butterflies to our pennants and how she incorporated our tiny tags and cutouts! Super cute layout and photos!!

Jenni made this beautiful mini album about her recent trip to New Zealand and it's incredible! I love the way she used our cutouts, 4 x 6 inch journaling and more! You can check out part 1 here, and part two here! It's a must see - the layers in it just make me so happy!

Helen tweeted this super cute layout and I just had to share it! Love the look of the kraft paper with our tags and isn't this just the best moment to capture? So sweet :)

Marcy blogged this layout a couple days ago and I just feel in love with it - her style is so great and I'm loving the versatility of using the white paper, too! Love, love, love!!

Spring is in the air!

I love the look of Spring poking it's head out! Flowers are blooming, the sun is shining in between downpours of rain, tulips are showing up everywhere... I'm so excited for spring this year after the extremely snowy and cold winter we had, it will be a refreshing change.

There's lots of other changes going on around here in the studio, too, that we are excited to share with you!

STORE STOCK: We have moved a bunch of items to our Limited Quantity Section. These are items that we will no longer be printing and will be GONE once they are sold out. Some items are already sold out! This entire section is 60% off during the entire month of April as we do our spring cleaning to make room for more items coming in!

ADVERTISING: We have received a ton of requests lately for blog sponsorship and allowing people to advertise on our site. This is something we have been considering because we LOVE to support crafters and know how hard it can be to get the word out! So, if you are interested, please email me - nothing is set in stone yet, but if we decide to move forward, you will be the first people to know!

NEW ITEMS: Our next launch (on paper, not digital) has not been planned yet... We are thinking though that we might have to wait until June or July because of somethings going on behind-the-scenes... so we will see! Make sure you are on our newsletter list - newsletter subscribers are the first to know when new items arrive in our shop!
