One Little Word 2012 Giveaway

Today we have a special giveaway from Big Picture Classes and Ali Edwards:

Ali says: “In 2006, I began a tradition of choosing one word for myself each January - a word that I can focus on, meditate on, and reflect upon as I go about my daily life. My words have included play, peace, vitality, nurture, light, and story. These words have each become a part of my life in one way or another. They've been imbedded into who I am, and into who I'm becoming. They've been what I've needed (and didn't know I needed). They've helped me to breathe deeper, to see clearer, and to grow.”

Each month you'll receive an email and an invitation to visit the One Little Word classroom. Inside the classroom, you'll find a gentle reminder message, encouragement to refocus, and a simple creative or writing project to complete, related to your word. At the end of the year you'll have an album that celebrates and honors your word - making it that much more concrete and visible in your life.

Read the rest of the description and listen to Ali’s audio file explaining the process of the class, here.

And, as a special surprise for our readers, we get to give away one spot in the class! Just leave a comment here telling us what you're word for 2012 is going to be and you'll be entered to win! We'll draw the lucky winner on Saturday, December 31st, 2011. One entry per person, please.

I haven't "found" my word for 2012 yet, b/c it usually finds me. But in years past I have had: change, happiness, acceptance & walk on the water. I would love to win this so I can focus on my word for 2012. I kind of fizzled out in the middle of the year w/ my word for 2011. Thanks for the fun giveaway. :)

Shut The Door!! I just tweeted yesterday how badly I want to take this class!! Oh-Em-Gee I hope I win!!

My word this year is CELEBRATE.
Life is entirely too short, and to precious not to celebrate each and every day that the good Lord gives us. I want to CELEBRATE each day, each breath, each person, each everything.

Thanks for the great giveaway!!

even though i'm afraid to pick a word for this year.. i have done ali's class in the past, and 2011 didnt turn out to be a very good year for me.. even though i had so much hope it would. I'm leaning towards picking "brave" after ali's suggestion or do something funny like "re-do" we will see... i have been putting a lot of thought into it.. it will come to me before the first as it usually does

Laurie said...

I'm trying "dare" on for size. I may change but I like it so far.

My word this year is Faithful. I need to be more Faithful, not only in my walk with the Lord, but with so many other areas in my life.

Ellie Augustin said...

For me it would have to be Perseverance. This coming year is the year I have to decide if I will be able to follow my dream of doing photography or going back to a regular 9-5 as my youngest will be going to school in September. I know it is going to take all that is in me to do so. I loved doing Ali's One little word last year where my word was Determination. With it I lost 45 pounds. With each mth it was a small reminder to keep going so being able to do it again this year would mean the world to me. Thanks for the chance!

Chaviva said...

Picking just one word is such a hard thing to do... especially if you've been involved in a love affair with words for your whole life... Just ONE word?? Wow...

OK, then, for a whole host of reasons, my word for 2012 is going to be HOPE.

I'm pretty sure I have finally settled on Flourish for my word and would love another shot at this class in 2012 (because I think I have to label my attempt in 2011 FAIL). Winning would make that happen for sure! Thanks!

My word for 2012 is going to be LIFE! We found out on December 4 that my Father-in-Law has Stage IV lung cancer. He will begin chemo and radiation in two days. This year our family's focus is going to be on LIFE and living it to the fullest!

Ithink my word for 2012 will be renew or refresh. I need to make some positive life choice changes, for me, but by me. they include eating healthier and having a better attitude about who i am and who I wish to continue growing into. 2011 has been very hard due to medical problems and work stress, and when i come home from my hysterectomy on 1/4/12 and want to start a new chapter in my life!

I think I've decided on the word future - to do the things needed that will make the future better. Could be making sure I have kids' changes of clothes & water and snacks in the car in case of emergency, or working on finances to ensure a more successful future, or choosing to exercise to be around longer in the future. :)

Amy said...

My word is bright.

My word for the upcoming year is "Heal". I've had a lot of heartache in the past few years and now its time for me to let go and heal. I've been holding onto this for so long it has affected who I am. So time to forgive and heal.

Happy New Year,

My one little word is MOVE. I'm so excited because I do have a few little things I'd like to use my word on in the projects I'm planning for 2012. I have a Pinterest board for inspiration and an ongoing list of how I'm tailoring my word to go around my life. It's all about Moving Forward, Moving On, and Moving my Butt, lol. I'd love to win a spot on this class--I think the extra online support would be awesome! :)

HEALTH is my word of 2012! As I stepped on the plane to visit my daughter in Italy I had appendicitis! I spent the next six days in a Roman hospital with a severe infection. A month later I still had infection and my fingers are crossed that this last round of antibiotics will be the cure otherwise I will need surgery again! So, HEALTH is my word! I would love to win a spot in the class!

My OLW for 2011 is/was J.O.Y. Prioritizing my life to serve Jesus and Others first and myself ("Yourself") lastly. Due to the passing of my sister suddenly in March, I lost my focus for awhile, but plan to get it back in 2012. So I'm thinking I'll hold on to my "J.O.Y." again in 2012- continuing on where I left off. :)
Here's to a happier, healthier, more joy-filled 2012 to all!

Carissa said...

My word is "free". I am finally learning how to let go and just be me. The key word there is learning. I'm really working on it and think this class looks perfect to help me!

I love seeing all of the different words people have chosen and their reasons for it! I've been struggling with finding my word. I choose one, but then somehow it doesn't seem right. That word was 'believe'. While it does still resonate with me, I now think my word should be 'learn'. Learn to be more accepting, learn to trust again, let myself not be afraid to be the student rather that always being the teacher. THAT would be a huge change for me

My One Little Word this year is "Family". It is so easy to put other peoples wants ahead of those who mean the most to me. And sometimes technology has a way of stealing precious time away from me spending time with my husband and little ones. I have to focus on my FAMILY this year.

Cheryl said...

This year my word is "Hope"

This word chose me... I need to find hope again after a year filled with half a dozen major earthquakes and several thousand smaller ones... my marriage falling apart, with no hope of recovery... of suddenly being a single mother, an old home owner with issues caused due to the earthquakes as well as its age... with my grandmother nearly dying several times...

I really want to find hope... to find a life filled with hope for the future, for me and my daughters...

Thank you for the chance to win...

I'm still waiting for my word to come to me. Our son is getting married tomorrow and I think once the wedding festivities are over my mind will be clear enough to hear my word, which had probably been yelling at me for a few weeks now!!

Julie said...

I've noticed that over the last few years I'm tending to stay home more, do things by myself (or with my husband), basically I've become a homebody. While there's nothing specifically wrong with that, I'd like to encourage myself to get out and do more, see things outside my home and job environment, spend time with friends rather than communicating by e-mail and phone messages. So, while I haven't nailed down the word that conveys that just yet (ENGAEGE is in the running), this is what is at the center of my focus for 2012.

Raewyn aka whinney said...

I am starting off the new year with a class on time management so I have chosen my OLW as TIME. I am looking forward to creating more time for me, for family, for work, for friends, for all areas of my life and I can't wait to find out how I am going to do that!

Kathy said...

Hope I wasn't suppose to have already registered for the class to be considered.....the word I have chosen coincidentally came to me as I was reading the post on facebook about this give away. My word is 'persevere'....it is perfect in every way for me, as it covers an entire gamet of things for me....exercise, eating better, photography, writing more (because I like to, but can never find the time), continuing with college, and job searching (as I am about to be downsized right out of a job!), and huge move and transition (as my husband will retire after 20 years in the military).....wow it sounds a little scary now that I have written it all down.

Fingers Crossed!

My hope fr 2012 is to expand my awareness in all areas.

My word for 2012 is "love". My intent is to walk in love treating everyone the same, not judging and loving with the same grace our Lord loves us.
I would love to win a place in this class to help me "walk in love" in 2012.

I know it's hard to fathom, but my word for the year is "Less". God gave it to me and I have written about in a blog post which is ready to publish on January 6th. I had some better words, or so I thought...but I have learned that it is best to accept what He gives graciously. Him being God and all...Happy New Year and am fairly new to this site but would love to win!

My word this year if I had one to focus on would be "Grace" as in God's Grace in my life. I am learning to lean on that grace. This would be a good way to journal my growth this coming year.

I am leaning toward effort for my word for 2012, but I'm still open. Over the past few years health problems and loss have made what was once just another task in my life to everything feeling so difficult. Pushing myself to do that one more thing that needs to be done would definitely be good for me and the people who count on me. Thanks for an awesome opportunity to take Ali Edward's One Little Word 2012! Happy Holidays.
