Valentine card + cd holder!

I had a ton of fun creating this project! I had been seeing others make them around Christmas time and thought that these would also make a great Valentine's Day gift! You could create a playlist of your favorite songs or songs that hold a lot of meaning to you and your loved one :)
We started with a piece of the Bazzill cardstock and cut it to 5.5 x 11 inches and fold it in half so it is 5.5 x 5.5 inches. Decorate the outside however you'd like! We used our Sweetheart Flashcards, mini papers, and XOXO Label Cut Outs.
For the inside, you'll need another piece of Bazzill cardstock measuring 5.5 x about 4 inches tall. We cut a triangle notch in ours but you could use a border punch instead!
Only glue three sides, do not glue the top - this will create a pocket for the cd to slide into.

For the other side you can use a large photo and them make a little collage like we did - we used our XOXO Tiny Journaling Tag Cut Outs and Sweetheart Flashcards. So much fun - can't wait to give it to my special someone :)

Hope everyone has an awesome, crafty weekend!

p.s. On Monday we'll have a free download! Can't wait!!

A Sweet Treat!

We feel so blessed to have such an amazing and inspiring design team! Laurie Rodick sent over these images today of a special present she made and we love this!
She used our XOXO Sweet Word circles tags and our XOXO Tiny Valentine Cut Outs. We love how the lollipops are like flowers in the flower pot! These would be the best kind of flowers, too!

This would make a great Valentine's gift for either a large group (like people you work with) or kids would love this, too!

Thanks for the inspiration, Laurie!!

Valentine Bags and Cards!

How sweet are these candy bags and cards by Daniela Dobson!? The cards and bags coordinate!
Daniela used small coffee bags and filled them with treats - then cut tops for each of the bags from our XOXO Mini Papers using her Nestabilites Label One dies from Spellbinders and her Big Shot. She then folded it in half, over the top of the bag. She had a great tip, too! If you don't have the dies you could easily just measure the width of any bag, add 1/2 inch and cut a square. Then, fold the square in half to fit over the top.
She then added ribbon and heart pins with a heart bead and little pom-poms to attach our XOXO Sweet Word Tags.
The cards are 2 1/2 x 4 inches and fit perfectly in the bags. She used the XOXO Never Ending Border Stamp set at the top of each card. And, our XOXO Mini Papers and punched coordinating Bazzill cardstock for the bottom. The punch she used is the EK Success Diamond Lace border punch. The flowers are also made from our mini papers - she cut out a heart for the leaves! Love that!! And, she used the Label Cut Outs for the base of the flower.
Check out that flower! I love the detail, so adorable!! She linked us up with an amazing video tutorial on how to create these little sweet flowers, too! Check out LollyChops for a step-by-step tutorial and be prepared to be hooked! I immediately had to try these out once I saw them :) I love the dimension they add to your projects!

Daniela said these are presents for her friends - how lucky are they!?!?! Thanks so much for the amazing inspiration, Daniela! We love it!!

{Don't forget about the giveaway in the post below! We'll be drawing a name from our blog comments and our facebook comments tonight!}

Valentine Cupcake Toppers + giveaway!

Nothing says "I love you" like a cupcake... and nothing says "I really, REALLY love you!" like these cupcake toppers! Aren't they just the cutest? Paige Evans, from our design team, made these and when she sent me the photos I just shrieked with joy!
They are just so cute and I love how big the toppers are, it's like an edible present!
And, I love how each one is different! So much fun :)
I just love it all! Even the Cherry Chip cupcake's have red in them to match the tags! Eek!!!

Paige used her Cuttlebug die cut machine and Nestabilities heart dies by Spellbinders (scalloped and regular) with our mini papers and matching bazzill paper. She cut a scalloped heart, then a regular heart and adhered them together with foam dots for extra dimension. They she added a sentiment to the front of each heart (sentiment from either our journaling spots, circle tags or cut outs). To finish it off, she then added a big ribbon bow for extra cuteness and a toothpick glued to the back so you can stick it into the cupcake!

So much fun and such an amazing presentation! Can you imagine bringing these into school, work or delivering them to someone special?
We've put together this special kit (pictured above), that includes all the Elle's Studio items Paige used to create these, and MORE! This Valentine kit would be perfect for making these toppers, cards and mini albums, too! And, don't forget about the other Valentine items are available in the same line!

Help for Haiti

The devastation from the earthquake in Haiti is heartbreaking. It seems like we haven't turned the TV off since it has happened and keep flipping between channels to catch the latest news coverage. Although we don't know anyone personally affected by this disaster, it still breaks our heart to watch all these people suffering day after day.

I kept saying to my girls in the studio, we have to do something! What can we do? What should we do? Finally, after reading what Elsie did (which is AMAZING!!) we felt completely inspired and moved to hold our own auction!

So we have filled a medium size Priority Mail flat rate box full of the following goodies with over 100 items from our store to put up for auction! Here's a peek of what's inside:
A mix of paper tags:Some stamps:
Some of our items from our newest release:
More tags, cut outs, recipe cards and note sheets!
All packed, ready to go!
You are bidding on this entire box! Please write your bid, along with your email address in the comment section below(email address is very important, in case you win we'll need to email you!). We'll start the auction at $10! This auction will end on Sunday, January 24th at 6:00 pm Pacific time. At that time the winner will be sent a PayPal invoice via email and once payment is received we'll ship your box! We will also send you a receipt of the donation made on your behalf and cover all shipping costs (even for overseas!).

Your donation will be donated to World Vision. Please take a moment to visit their website and see all the amazing things they are doing for Haiti right now - it is truly amazing and we feel so honored to be able to offer this auction.

Thank you all SO much for reading this - this cause is so important to us and we are excited to share this with you today.

Designer Spotlight: Paige Evans

Hey all! My name is Paige Taylor Evans. I just recently moved to sunny South Pasadena, CA from Provo, UT because the love of my life, my husband Chris of almost three years come May 8th, is attending USC School of Dentistry class of 2013. I graduated from BYU with a BA in Art Education in 2007 where they taught me to be well-rounded in most art forms. I like painting, drawing, printmaking, photography, ceramics, basket weaving, and especially bookbinding. And of course, I love to scrap! I got a sewing machine for Christmas, but I don’t know how to sew - I just use it for scrapbooking. My day isn’t complete unless I’ve made something!

Why do you scrapbook and how did you get started?
Here’s the long version:

Once upon I time I turned 16 any my parents decided it was time for me to get a job. So one afternoon my mom and I hopped in the car and drove to Sammamish where I went to high school because it would be ideal to work so close to school. Our first stop was Bartell's drug store. I asked for an application and we left. Nothing else really seemed appealing on the plateau so we headed to Redmond. We walked into Confetti Junction (a really cool party supply store) and picked up another application. Then, just on a whim, we walked into the little store called Yesterday's Scrapbooking and Stuff. They didn't even have any applications, they just took down my name and phone number. Our last stop was Hallmark and I picked up another application. I interviewed at Confetti Junction but since I couldn't work on Saturdays, they wouldn't offer me a job. Oh well, I guess it wasn't meant to be. Hallmark called to set up an interview, but that fell through. Again, not meant to be. Then out of the blue, Yesterday's called and set up an interview. I remember going into the office to interview with one of the sweet owners. We had a lot in common and it went great. It was meant to be. A few days later I started working at Yesterday's Scrapbooking & Stuff. I remember my very first purchase was a pack of glitter pens. I think I still have them somewhere even though they're all dried up and useless, but they're sentimental. It turns out that scrapbooking was more fun than I could have ever imagined. I love pictures, I love working with my hands, I love making things - put it all together and you've got the best hobby in the world – scrapbooking!

Since then I’ve worked at Pebbles In My Pocket, Archiver’s, a Product Designer/In-House Scrapbooker at American Crafts, and I’m still on the Editorial Staff of Northridge Media (they publish Scrapbook Trends, CARDS, Simply Handmade, Bead Trends, and a bi-monthly idea book series called Create.) Basically, if it weren't for that fateful day when a lady at Yesterday's took down my name and number, I don't know what my life would be like now. Ever since then my life has pretty much revolved around scrapbooking.

Who inspires you?
I see so much inspiration every day I don’t know where to begin with this question! I subscribe to 296 blogs via Google Reader and spend at least an hour every day surfing through them, so I get a lot of my inspiration there. Also, one of my tasks at Northridge Media is sorting submission emails so I get to see the latest and greatest creations of woman around the world on a daily basis. I probably see about 50-100 layouts a day that are just so beautiful and inspiring. And finally, if we’re talkin’ whose style inspires me personally, I’d have to say Heidi Sonboul and Cheryl Manz. They always use such bright and fun colors and I love the way they use embellishments.

What is your favorite color combo?
I like aqua, leaf green, sunshine yellow, and taffy pink. But ask me again tomorrow and it’ll probably be something completely different!

What is your favorite scrapbooking supply:
My favorite scrapbooking supply has to be buttons. When I think I’m all done with a layout, I stand back, stare at it for a few minutes, then sprinkle on a few buttons and call it good.
Do you record every moment or just special ones?
I’m more of an “ooooh, this picture would be great with that paper!” kind of scrapbooker. I use my blog to record daily events and scrapbooking is a way for me to document my most favorite photos and memories.

What is your favorite thing about scrapbooking?
I love the hands on-ness of scrapbooking. I love making new friends through scrapbooking. I love sitting down with only a photo and all the creative thoughts that rush through my head when I’m about to scrapbook. I love flipping through my scrapbooks and re-living precious memories. I love showing other people my scrapbooks and getting their feedback and praise. I love all the new product that gets released every year – what will they think of next? I just love scrapbooking. The end.

Thanks so much for sharing with us today, Paige! We loved hearing your story, the super cute and inspiring layouts you created and seeing your scrap space! We feel so blessed to have you apart of our design team!
