Summer 2009 • Documented + giveaway

The end of summer is creeping up on us so soon - I truly wish these long and sweet summer days would last forever, however I am really excited for what the fall and winter season brings, too!

My newest page I added to my summer mini is about our favorite ice cream parlor called Big Scoop. This place is so special to me and my sister - my parents took us there when we were little kids and it was always, and still is, a special treat!

When I was starting to scrapbooking this page all I could think about were Danielle Thompson's Ice Cream Cones and how perfect they'd be for it :) The hardest part was choosing which one to use - they are all so cute!!
I also used the Ice Cream tag and journaling block from our digital download and a Vintage Calendar tag.
I also roughed up the edges of the ice cream cones and ice cream tag with my fingernail - love the vintage look it creates!
And, since I had a ton of photos from the parlor I decided to just punch holes in the photos and put them in the book with Danielle's Ice Cream Cones and our Granny's Doily Circle Tags - it's like the ice cream cones are talking!
We are so, SO excited because today we have a giveaway from Danielle Thompson for you guys! Danielle is one of my favorite designers and I just love everything she does! Her blog is a must see! She also has an etsy shop that has some amazing prints and Blythe accessories (Blythe accessories coming tomorrow) I don't own a Blythe doll but her accessories make me want to get one just so they can wear the things she makes! So cute!!

So one person will win four cut out sheets from her Kitschy Digital {Goods} shop!
PLUS! Her new Washi Tap Frames Digital Kit:
And, her new Woodgrain Frames Digital Kit!
Pure eye candy! These would all be great for your summer minis and MORE! Make sure you check out her other Kitschy Digital Blog, too for tons of inspiration! They have an amazing design team. And, some of her kits are also for sale at Two Peas!

To enter the giveaway just leave a comment below or email us (with the subject: Kitschy Giveaway) and we'll be drawing one name this coming Saturday!

Happy Summer!!

Technique by Kristin Hayne!

Hi there! Kristin Hayne here and I wanted to show you a quick tip on making your products stretch! Ever get a great idea and then find that you don't have the right color for the project? Take this sunshine card... I wanted to add felt swirls for a little extra dimension on the card but I only had the color pink.
So, I simply pulled the backing off and sprinkled yellow flocking to the adhesive side to make a more cohesive yellow look.
Next, I added it to the card as seen below...
Along with a Granny's Doily Circle tag and ta da!
Here it is!
You could also do this with shaped borders, acetate, stickers... the possibilities are endless! Try using glitter on the adhesive as well. You get an entire new look out of a product that may have not been used otherwise!

Have fun!
-Kristin Hayne

Thank you, Kristin! This is an amazing idea that I have never, ever thought of! I can't wait to dig into my unused scrap items and put them to good use now!! xo, Elle

Summer 2009 • Documented Free download!

We just added the above page to our summer mini book and it is about how beautiful the roses were this year - they were absolutely, amazingly huge and gorgeous! We used the Granny's Doily Journaling Tags and cut the edges off for a fun border, and then the circle tag if from our Digital Summer kit

And... it brings us to our second and last free download for this project! This fun circle tag can be used for so many things besides your summer mini book! We've even been using them to label drawers and containers around here! Click here to go to our Summer 2009 Documented download page and download yours today!

We hope you all enjoy it!

Some Saturday Favs

I recently purchased the above necklace from Becoming on etsy and it is so, SO beautiful! They let you customize the initial and bead color and I'm in love with it! It is the perfect size and I love the handmade look of the stamped letter :) Great idea for a Christmas or Birthday gift!
I will always have a weak spot in my heart for things sculpted out of clay. When I was in sixth grade I discovered it and made things for years! These super cute monsters are available at JooJoo's etsy shop and I'm thinking I have to have them :)

And... these three pictures below have totally inspired me to bake something this weekend! These colored layers are just beautiful and would be a total surprise to the person cutting into them! Too much fun!!!
